While Sanders as the hero is as witty and debonair as ever, it’s the way that Gay Laurence acts like a complete sleazebag with every woman he comes across that gives this a sharper comedy edge than most detective serials of the time. The mystery itself, as usual, is all fairly predictable and uninspired, but the strength of the film's star goes a long way to make up for this.

Sanders purrs "Call me Gaaaaay" and the women swoon.

Sanders plays pretty much the exact same character that he played in The Saint - a debonair gentleman detective with a wry sense of humour and an eye for the ladies. The comedy is a little more overt than it is in The Saint, and while not all of it works, some of it is very funny. The mystery is well executed, too, which is more than can be said for some of The Saint films.

George Sanders goes from being The Saint to becoming a similar but lighter character called The Falcon in a short-lived film series. Amusing, and it's more for laughs than thrills. Sanders Saint always took himself a little too seriously, here everything's more of a joke and works better for the programmer format. Doesn't hurt that he has Allen Jenkins as his sidekick.
