The Gendarme and the Creatures from Outer Space
The bungling inspector Cruchot (Funès) finds himself trying to save the residents of St. Tropez from some oil-drinking humanoid aliens. The only way to tell the aliens from the real people, besides their constant thirst for oil-products, is that they sound like empty garbage cans when you touch them. Chaos is ahead. (imdb)

A mixed bag. It has funny moments and de Funès is on good form, but it's brought down by a tendency to repeat the same jokes and by a disregard for plot and logic in order for the humour to work out. In general, the far from fleshed out sci-fi plot is clearly not the priority here, as the fifth, penultimate and up to then weakest "Le gendarme" movie feels like a collection of gags of varying quality, ranging from the well-played and moderately amusing to the unnaturally, artificially farcical.

Some good scenes, but this 5th Gendarme isn't excellent. de Funès seems tired. However, I prefer this one than Le Gendarme et les Gendarmettes.
