Well crafted thriller undone by uncomfortably sleazy and grubby elements – there’s a lot of material in here that seems to exist purely to rub the audience’s nose in how “shocking” and “daring” the film-makers are being (imagine PRESUMED INNOCENT without the comparable taste and restraint). It’s a shame because the performances are all fine, with the Woods/Travolta show downs especially well done, and the mystery itself is reasonably well plotted and holds water without springing too many leaks.

I found this to be a pretty captivating murder mystery even though I guessed the killer mid way through. Good cast, the ending was a big overlong though.

I first saw this movie as a horny teenager, and even then I thought the nudity/rape scenes were gratuitous. Other than that, it was a solid movie.

Lousy writing, inept direction, and the resulting tone-deaf performances by most of the actors. Travolta actually came off the best... which should tell you a lot.

Everyone lies all the time in order to keep you guessing as to what's going on. Movie could've been over in about 25 minutes if there was at least some mild honesty going on. Sadly everyone is lying for really contrived reasons forcing you to watch the entire film for find out what really happened. Believe me when I tell you that it's not worth it.

Pretty retarded plot and this is the sort of inept nonsense that mainstream movie goers seemed to lap up at the time. I seem to remember it having some really mental plot twist. It's kind of fun to see Travolta hamming it up though.
