"What's worse than rape?" Watching this movie lol

Everyone lies all the time in order to keep you guessing as to what's going on. Movie could've been over in about 25 minutes if there was at least some mild honesty going on. Sadly everyone is lying for really contrived reasons forcing you to watch the entire film for find out what really happened. Believe me when I tell you that it's not worth it.

Forgettable thriller.

Pretty retarded plot and this is the sort of inept nonsense that mainstream movie goers seemed to lap up at the time. I seem to remember it having some really mental plot twist. It's kind of fun to see Travolta hamming it up though.

This is one the most dispicable, disgusting, disturbing films I've ever had the displeasure of watching... Not a single redeeming thing to say about it...I can't believe that Travolta, and Madeline Stowe agreed to do it; muchless that it got green-lighted at all...

Travolta did Pulp Fiction. BRAVO!! Then he did this.

Well crafted thriller undone by uncomfortably sleazy and grubby elements – there’s a lot of material in here that seems to exist purely to rub the audience’s nose in how “shocking” and “daring” the film-makers are being (imagine PRESUMED INNOCENT without the comparable taste and restraint). It’s a shame because the performances are all fine, with the Woods/Travolta show downs especially well done, and the mystery itself is reasonably well plotted and holds water without springing too many leaks.

For some reason I kind of liked this. I think because it's so ridiculous yet tries so hard to be real.

Slow moving. Don't feel bad for victim as much as should. Have only seen this movie since its debut.

It has some good acting and passes the time, but it is told in a messy way. Full of clichés and characters that we've seen before, but it entertained for the most part. - Okay.

From what I remember, not very good at all.

The book was outstanding. The movie was not.

Lousy writing, inept direction, and the resulting tone-deaf performances by most of the actors. Travolta actually came off the best... which should tell you a lot.

I found this to be a pretty captivating murder mystery even though I guessed the killer mid way through. Good cast, the ending was a big overlong though.

Tries too hard to have shocking twists and ends up depressing and graphic.

There are tits in this film. Other things happen, but I only remember the boobies.

An interesting premise that raises some really important societal questions, but unfortunately this is all ruined by a really hamfisted script and Travolta's typical over-acting.

DVD-worthy

I first saw this movie as a horny teenager, and even then I thought the nudity/rape scenes were gratuitous. Other than that, it was a solid movie.

Well, not too thrilling, although servicable. Rarely does the picture approach believable so involvement is minimal, the writting, however, is frequently quite good & even amusing at times.

I haven't seen this since..oh, ::looks at release date:: 1999, but I remember liking it for some reason. Don't remember what reason it was, but yea.

I don't really remember any specific things about this movie, so the score is mostly a reflection of my opinion of John Travolta (I'm being generous).

This one always surprises me. I've watched it a number of times and it continues to hold my attention better than A Few Good Men.

I think I recall writing a fanfiction of this movie in high school, except it was 100% smut.
