Interesting but dubious portrait of a master at work is a little too breathlessly eager to portray Hitch as a drooling deviant, and Hedren as a down-trodden angel, but film still works fairly well thanks to convincing performances from Jones and Miller, and a genuine feel for period detail (and interesting recreations and evocations of Hitch's most iconic movie scenes).

When distorting the facts in this manner, you better make sure your story is at least interesting. This is mostly basic "disgusting, old powerful man hits on naive ingenue"-stuff. It quickly gets boring and doesn't really go anywhere.

Plays like a finely crafted yet overblown anecdote about a bad case of sexual harassment that would be far more absorbing at a dinner party. After decades of cinema w/ genuinely disturbing fatal attractions the lack of real danger here is a recipe 4 boredom, no matter how meticulously directed or acted. Hedren says that she feels Hitch is taking her over, but since the script never suggests she's anything more than a determined June Cleaver it's hard 2 care.

Everyone's a sexual predator nowadays apparently. Even Hitchcock. I wonder if this was funded by The Daily Mail.

I had no idea that Hitchcock was a sadistic pervert... I wish i could merge the 2 Hitchcock movies in 2012 to have one decent movie... Only Sienna Miller is breathtaking

Its a shame this film presented things in such a one dimensional fashion. From what I read, Hitchcock was pretty obnoxious, especially to Hedren, but I doubt he was totally charmless, with the charisma of a wet haddock, as depicted by Jones. Its hard to rate a film when it is in essence a character assassination (however justified) but have to say Sienna Miller was breathtaking in both her acting and screen presence. the Birds is one of my favourite films and luckily, this hasnt put me off it !

I have strong reservations towards the revelations of this strange film. Quite alright, overall.

Jarrold tackles an enormously interesting subject -- a behind the scenes chronicle of Hitchcock and one of his blondes --, and recreates Hollywood in the early 1960s with visual decency, but seems too dull, black-and-white, dirty-old-man-vs-innocent-girl scheme-like in his portrait of a man "turning a living, breathing woman into a statue", as Tippi says. Some good acting from Sienna and Jones, but the film looks as attractive as simple-minded.

Although Hitchcock 's portrayal of females in his films is interesting, this was a little disappointing.

No room for subtlety or grey areas in this nevertheless compelling Hedren/Hitchcock biopic.

They take "cock"part. Hitch the sexual predator. Like "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers", this movie insults its subject, too. Hitch portrayal is the man who wants to every powerful men have had it in the film industry. Pathetic for hypocrites.
