The Girl in Room 2A

The true hero, Willie, is introduced at the 11th hour, right as the climax starts. We know nothing about Willie, and will learn nothing, except that at a moment's notice he is ready and able to drop everything and take part in a shlubby middle-aged 3-man assault on a perverted cult's castle.

Slightly better than I expected. It's closer to a German Krimi-film than a proper Giallo with it's hooded executioner and gothic mansion, and it’s obviously a lower budget affair than the films by Argento, Martino, Fulci etc. Still, it's a worth a watch if you've seen all the A and B grade entries in the genre. The film's biggest fault is the shifts in tone from claustrophobic and sinister to comedic, but there are less of those if you watch the Italian version.
