The Godless Girl

The beginning was great, wish the rest of the film was as fun. It was ridiculous, over the top scaremongering about atheism, but it had just enough hint of sympathy and comedy that I enjoyed it. Unfortunately most of the film is something else. Not a bad something else, a love story/prison drama with a bit of moralizing, but not as much as you might expect, and some sympathetic leads. Some eyerolling moments but otherwise enjoyable. It can't touch the absurdist comedy of the first 15 minutes.

A great classic silent film which stands the test of time very well.
