How I wish they had kept the original title of "Cream Princess"...! Davis called this a "cheap, nothing story", and she was right. Making this movie caused her to flee to England, which in turn prompted Warner's to sue her for breach of contract. One sympathizes with her completely. The whole thing tries much too hard to be madcap, though the early scenes with Davis and the ever-dull Brent have an amiable ease that's refreshing--as is any time Eugene Pallette is on the screen.

One of countless films Bette Davis did with George Brent as her leading man. One of their lighter light efforts. Davis is hired by a company to pretend to be a heiress to the company fortune so that they can get some easy publicity. Then one day she meets struggling news reporter George Brent and marries him without telling him the secret. A stupid plot, which might be a tiny bit better then what it sounds, but it's still just another attempt at a screwball comedy which flooded the market in 36.
