The Golem

Inspired by Hollywood blockbusters and the cut-scenes out of action RPGs. Maybe such a combination is workable with a large enough budget, but The Golem just had enough to get all these Renaissance Fair attendees to bring their own costumes and build a little historic village. Features wooden acting, 1-dimensional characters (with the occasional 2nd dimension!), and a cast of villains so gratuitously caricatured that they'd make directors of 80s-era action flicks cringe.

Pretty entertaining albeit standard horror.

Most IMDB reviews said it was slow, and honestly I wonder if I saw the same movie. It’s not at all a masterpiece, nor is it even scary. It is however surprisingly entertaining and interesting. I’ve grown fond of horror movies in different time periods, so that’s a plus as well. If you aren’t picky with horror and you’re interested in the plot, I’d say give it a try.

A well made, if not particularly exciting, spin on religious horror.
