The Good Girl

PSI: 58 wtf. This movie is garbage. Jake Gyllenhaal gives maybe the worst performance I've ever seen, Jennifer Aniston feels so out of place, Zooey is useless and so is almost everyone else. What a terrible movie.

Small-scale comic drama never rises to the sum of its parts, mostly due to the lionising of the illogical to hideously self-serving choices made by the Aniston character. However, the performances are so great (starting with Aniston, who makes this unlikable character somewhat appealing), and the writing so astute, clever (and funny) at times, that you can almost overlook its flaws. In a sterling supporting cast, Nelson stands out as Reilly's slimy, but ultimately wistful, buddy.

The mere fact that Jennifer Aniston isn't playing Rachel for the 8,000th fucking time wins it a few extra points.

Nothing special with this. Why can't Anniston get a decent man? Actually just watched this for a second time and now I actually think I feel slightly bad for Reilly her husband. I think he is the best performance of the movie, which isn't saying too much.

I usually try to steer away from anything starring Aniston, but she was actually sort of likeable in this film. And John C. Reilly is great as usual.

I didn't dislike The Good Girl. I just struggled to form a strong opinion, positive or negative. All of the elements of a good movie are here, but they didn't really affect me like they should have. This is a movie filled with drama, dark comedy, strong performances, and interesting insights into people who would classify themselves as "lost souls." For me, it was missing a certain "it" factor to make it a great viewing experience. Perhaps it will more easily connect with you.

Caught bits of it on TV the other day, let's just say I didn't really like it as much this time. Still, I liked it when I was young(er) and (even more) self-involved, so I only knock it down 10 points.

It's awful.

Zooey Deschanel gets all the best lines.

It is good to see Jennifer Aniston just not play the generic female lead in a romantic comedy for once in her life. Aside from that, it is a decent, moving story with memorable characters which is very well written.

Gritty, interesting little film with a fine Jennifer Anniston performance.

Jen's angst is pretty relatable most of the way through. And who wouldn't fall for Jake's adoring brown eyes? But then it takes a turn into pathetic melodrama that's more difficult to forgive.

Another movie that I found surprisingly ok. It isn't Citizen Kane or anything so calm down. It's just...good. Ish.

Mike White scores again with this utterly dark, unrelenting piece about hopelessness that ultimately ends with the most bittersweet of happy endings.

The only redeeming feature of this movie is that I think that Zoey Deschanel is really hot.

None of these actors are believable as who they are trying to portray, but Aniston is especially bad. That is dsitracting but other than that, interesting little movie

Not bad at all, but easily forgettable. So much so that I have scrolled past it several times on here before and it has failed to click that I have actually seen this movie. Still thinking back it worked well as simple drama/romance with touches of slightly downbeat humour. Undoubtedly one of Aniston's better movies amid her collection of generic rom-coms.

My fiance said that Aniston should play someone with no hope more often. She hit the nail right on the head, because Aniston portrays it perfectly, and it's a nice change from what she usually does. The cast is pretty great for the most part, and it's a good watch even though you've probably seen the story a hundred different times.

Such a great, understated film.

Not just another romatic comedy featuring Jennifer Aniston. In fact, many things about this movie are rather unexpected, including some great performances and characters that do bad things.

A film about average people living in a small town. It was true enjoyment to watch this movie from start to finish. And for my mind the best performance that Jennifer Aniston ever has done.

Jake is hot but disturbing, Jennifer plays her part well but the ending just sucks. Depressing.

An interesting moral exercise with strong characters and good acting to back it up.
