The Grass Is Greener

Not a comedy. A woman that gets very quickly swept into an affair with an American. There's lots of intellectual and gentleman-ley banter, quips, and strategy. Quite a sad film really.

Sparkling comedy is a delightful treat for fans of its quartet of stars, who are all in tip-top comic form under Donen's sturdy directorial hand. Big laughs and sheer likability overcome some of the more outlandish plot developments (pistols at dawn?)

Found it hard to believe this was a movie made in 1960, it's casual attitude toward infidelity doesn't seem to fit the times. Located a few laughs and enjoyed a couple of the scenes with Kerr and Grant.

Sort of clever in a cutesy, smug, but generally unfunny kind of way, save for a couple laugh-out-loud moments. These characters are each despicable in their own manner, but it must be said that the four leads have a ton of chemistry. It's not exactly a bad movie, but neither is it very distinguished.

Fim de semana em honra de Stanley Donen (1924 - 2019) filme #3. Jesus, às vezes esqueço o quanto amo o Cary Grant, tudo com ele fica dez vezes melhor. Aqui Donen já está engatinhando com o que viria a ser o definitivo filme sobre casamento em Two for the Road, ele sabre como apresentar relações maduras sem perder o humor. BlurayRip no MakingOff.
