The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle
A rather incoherent post-breakup Sex Pistols "documentary", told from the point of view of Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren, whose (arguable) position is that the Sex Pistols in particular and punk rock in general were an elaborate scam perpetrated by him in order to make "a million pounds." Silly and hard to follow at times, but worth seeing for some excellent Pistols concert footage, some wickedly amusing animated sequences, and Sid Vicious' eerily prophetic performance of "My Way." Quite amusing, with a number of laughs throughout. Tended to go off the track toward the end, but...the footage of the band playing was of course great, and I liked the animation a lot too. The whole thing was very inventive and wacky and nicely tongue-in-cheek, and made for a truly madcap spoof. Also there was Steve Jones wearing his Gumby hat in concert and Sid's cover of two great Eddie Cochran songs.

An acquired taste which has nothing to do with punk rock or the actual story of the Sex Pistols. On the other hand, it's an absurdist masterpiece, filled with dwarves, trips to Rio to see criminals and a movie in a movie concept that defies all odds and works.

Top badass moment? I've a framed poster of Sid Vicious on the wall in my living room. Go on admit it, that's badass in a way you can't even begin to comprehend. A unique/flawed film, nearly 40 years on this is still a movie worthy of your time, although it really makes no sense whatsoever. In fact it's all a bit of a swindle, plot-wise, but worth it for the archive footage, even though poor old Glen Matlock doesn't even get into the credits. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.
