The Green Hornet

Nice cliff hangers and a thrilling pace. Stacks up better than the Batman serial by using broader dangers.

Unintentionally funny

Not-bad serial adapted from the popular radio character created by George W. Trendle. Played surprisingly straight and fairly well done on a tight budget.

The first screen adaptation of The Green Hornet (1940) is a 13-part Serial from Universal Pictures. Could have been an exciting experience, but turns into the generic formula most of these productions suffers from and it doesn't stand-out compared to other such series of that time. Apart from the costume there wasn't added much else as far as camp value and the acting was so straight to the point that it eliminated any chance of connecting with it's scenarios. Not the thrill it should have been.
