The Grizzlies

What a nice surprise and gem of a movie. A teacher starts a lacrosse team in a very small Artic town in Canada. It deals with multiple issues while being an entertaining sports movie.

This is a well made and interesting film. It has some typical sport film stuff but other moments that are unpredictable and interesting. The ensemble cast does a good job with the material. Overall I would recommend this film.

You can always have sympathy for a story like this, no matter how didactic its tone is sometimes. Sometimes you just have to set all the artistic criteria aside, when it is about something meaningful like this.

A generic, uninteresting "feel good" story that may present itself with some edge but never explores it in any gratifying way. How something this tepid and safe managed to win any awards is beyond me.
