A break-in and sabotage attempt occurs at a top secret research institute and the culprit is cornered and captured. The problem is that he's been badly injured and claims to have lost his memory entirely. A government research center is blown up, and the presumed perpetrator (Michael Sarrazin) has near-total amnesia. But a hard-ass investigator (George Peppard) has a few tricks up his sleeve. It took me forever to track down this thriller, and sadly, it's not a lost classic; the direction is rather flat and the emotional potential of the premise (and final revelation) is only fitfully met. Still, it's perfectly watchable, with a few solid performances and a certain time-capsule charm.
