Lee Tracy is great; the female lead did nothing for me and didn't even look good in outfits. The plot was not offensive but nothing special either. Lee Tracy does a similar type but more interesting in the movie "Blessed Event."

Viewed December 6, 2021. A very fun, spirited comedy about a publicist who uses strong-arm tactics to help an unqualified showgirl rocket to Broadway stardom. Although I haven't seen a lot of his films, Lee Tracy seems like the foremost male star of the pre-code era, his fast-talking and wise-cracking characters conveying the freewheeling spirit of the times with an acuity that still feels remarkably fresh.

Disappointing showbiz comedy in which the highlight is Lupe Velez getting feisty in a couple of scenes, appearing beside a lion, belly dancing tamely and performing the same musical number 3 or 4 times. The rest revolves around a couple of fat cat producers trying to get rich off her talents, and is quite somniferous cinema. Uninspired plot, many weak scenes and no worthwhile message - I'm surprised the public were even remotely interested or amused in 1932.

Any Lee Tracy comedy from this period is worth watching! The Half Naked Truth is no exception. If only to see him get gritty with the hot-blooded latina Lupe Velez! Few can talk like Tracy can and with the gruff voiced Eugene Pallette by his side you have a super team trying to make Velez a star on Broadway! They do that by manipulating producer and artist-minded Frank Morgan! Lots of fun even if it did get a bit repetitive half-way through with the same songs and outlandish promotional ideas.
