Park's work is getting better.

Another amazing movie from an amazing director. It's fascinating to see an accomplished filmmaker pursuing erotic fiction as a legitimate avenue for storytelling. The shot selection and staging give the movie an incredible energy; it's very similar to Scorsese, where these bizarre camera movies somehow work and take the movie to another level. The story itself is great and the twists and turns fun and engaging.

Scratch off the veneer of the beautiful cinematography, the good acting and the convoluted story; and you'll find something not very different from a smut film. Overall, The Handmaiden is not a bad movie, far from it. It's probably one of the best in its own category. But if you are like me and lack any interest in erotico-romantic stuff, and do not particularly enjoy typical Korean twisted plots and general weirdness; this movie is not worth its long running time.

NOT: Aileyle izlemeye kalkmayın. Çok güzel bir film. 2 saatlik süre boyunca gizemi ve akışı bozmadan koruyabilmişler. Ancak çok fazla cinsel sahneler içeriyor.

Beautitful, clever

The plot line was predictable. Overall rather boring.

An excitement of all the senses.

Twisty, suspenseful and well acted, also improves significantly from the lacklustre source material. But I swear, this sex scene go on double the length of any such scenes in actual sex films.

Wonderful movie... Will challenge your mind. I loved the cinematography, the color palette, the music, the symbolism. Every character gets their own moment to grown. Personally, I recommend watching this movie.

Each scene is detailed, interesting, and beautiful.

Brilliant

There is a moment towards the end where all the cards are already on the table and we know what will happen, but the movie still insists on reveling in its own conclusion for another 20 minutes. That being said, it's still an excellent movie who's biggest fault is some messy editing towards the end.
