The movie is well-made, except it takes place over two years, and the protagonist is a child. He doesn't change, and I found it unsettling. There are many warm fuzzies if you can identify with a rich preppy kid coming of age at the turn of the century.

It's a kid's life! Pretty much a coming of age drama with comic tone set just before the 20th century. Very MGM in it's presentation. While polished, you also get the feel the studio didn't have their finger on the pulse with films like this. The young actors did deliver a lot of fun moments and it's a colorful experience. But I can't say they nailed the story.
