Johnnie To may be one of the best directors working today, able to distill storymaking professionalism over and over again in a variety of genres, from gangster to romcom to costume epics. This happens to be To's stab at fantasy and superheros, and it turns out to be a playful all-female Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Yes, it's that awesome. Notable is Anthony Wong as some kind of Rocksteady, which is shockingly not his weirdest role.

Corny and with some surprisingly sketchy editing in parts, but fun and the characters are charming. Oh, and sexy. Did I say sexy? Well, they're sexy, too, so there's that.

Johnny To directed this cheesy monstrosity about 3 female superheroes who team up to take down a nefarious villain. Very campy and silly in parts, but features a surprising amount of competent action.

This is perhaps my all time favorite Kung Fu movie. It's a weird wild ride that only a mad man like me may find fun but my sister digs it too so I can't be all that bad. :D

It is pure fluff, but it's so screamingly fun that it's worth a few watches.

runtime is 83 minutes, but I have to add an extra 10 minutes for when I paused the movie to take a cold shower after Maggie Cheung unloads a belt of ammunition from a machine gun while wearing leather.

I have absolutely no idea what I saw here, but was kind of entertaining

This popcorn flick doesn't make a lick of sense, but who can resist all those nods to prior martial arts cinema (including a shout-out to the flying guillotine)? Mindless fun.

Couldn't tell what the fuck was going on half the time, but the classic swooshing Hong Kong fantasy action. Many ludicrous moments. Lovely leading ladies

Very fun flick which goes down well with a few beers. It's not exactly a great film, but it has its place. The infant body count is a surprise, but one of the key joys of watching some of these nutso HK flicks is that we recognise more of Hollywood taboos.
