Amazing! And clearly a source of inspiration for 'Fallen' and that 'Dark Skies' tv show. So... Barthalen, DavidBlast, Dean Franz, FrederikA, GordonBombay, KMcNeil, LordBeefJerk, MArkjp, Ytadel (and everybody else with any love for genre flicks), go pop this into your old VHS machine asaaap and treat your esteemed selves to a slice of fried gold. I feel confident that you won't be disappointed. A double bill with 'Night of the Creeps' could be the most brilliantly trashy eighties video night evs.

Opens with a sequence that wouldn't have been out of place in a game of Grand Theft Auto, and then heads off on a wacky and violent semi-sci-fi romp. I'm sure there are a few deeper messages hinted at, but they are left largely unexplored to no detriment. MacLachlan is a likeable lead, and the supporting cast is decent (bonus point for Trejo and Shaye). Well-handled action, a nice undercurrent of black comedy, and no unnecessary complexity. An underappreciated slice of 80s goodness.

Excellent sci-fi. Great action scenes, an exhilerating easy-to-follow story and decent acting from all involved.

Holy crap, did I love me some of this movie. The subtler-than-subtle black humor pushed all the right buttons and the 80s feel had me longing for the glory days. The fact that an alien movie can be effective when the alien is only shown 2 (and a half) times the whole movie is awesomely radical to the max. My only issue is with the somewhat rushed ending, but even that I can forgive. 8 thumbs up.

This is such a banger with its mix of horror, weirdness, and fairly nonstop action. Kyle MacLachlan delivers a very fun and odd performance in what is a real warmup for Twin Peaks. An 80s sleeper that delivers.

The concept of the klepto anarchist alien who likes loud rock and fast cars is pretty awesome; and I wish they would have focused even more on that as the first half of the film is a blast. Coulda been a Falling Down type thing only more of a comedy and with bodyshifting. The buddy cop/action stuff is also frequently entertainingly weird and cheesy, but the film runs out of steam. Loved the scene where the alien smashes the record player because, naturally, it detests country music. And lolTrejo.

Very similar to Terminator but with aliens, and it's not detracting from either movie.

Good balance of action and horror with a fun performance from MacLachlan similar to what he does in Twin Peaks.

A decent schlock sci-fi flick good enough for people who don't mind, or even enjoy a cheesy odor in viewing experiences. I hesitate to call it a hidden gem, though my recognition of cult films may be a little off.

Although the 1st Terminator had a tighter script, this unfairly forgotten 80's flick is of a similar quality. In addition to above average performances as well as a seemingly unstoppable villain, both films have compelling sci-fi premises that lend themselves to a fun and exciting narrative that never sacrifices character for efx and delivers surprising bits of humor and emotion one wouldn't normally expect from stories that could've just as easily resulted in a bad exploitation cheapie.

Great script, beautifully structured and and doesn't conform to a million clichés as it so easily could. The direction isn't brilliant, but it serves the story well and keeps the pace and tension up throughout. Really fun movie.

This got the blend between cheesy 80s actioner and gory sci-fi so, so perfect it was like heroin for my inner critic. Feels like the third act and senator subplot could have been dropped though.
