Decent acting, atrocious writing. Ian McShane smooths the way for a lot of the loopier 'WTF?!' moments. It's a turkey in Kevlar: you're not shooting to kill, but you're not human if you don't laugh and pull the trigger a couple of times.

I really like Patrick Wilson, but any attempt to cast him in a law enforcement position will ultimately underwhelm after his turn on Fargo: Season Two.

You know you're in trouble when The Belush is your big standout.

Overall The Hollow Point (2016) had my interest, but I felt the gory focus toward the latter half of the film didn't do it any favors. Patrick Wilson was fine in this cartel story in the modern west, but I was here for Ian McShane, who didn't disappoint.

This film has many flaws but also some entertaining scenes. The cast does a good job in this movie. The script has some unpredictable moments that keep things interesting. Overall I would recommend this flawed film.

occasionally misses the tone with misplaced slomo-coolness, lynn collins' vacant performance might be indeliberate, and some plot points don't add up. on the upside you got a great setting and some really nice shots. wilson is eternally doomed to play the sheriff, but his character is a pleasingly faulty and unusual lead. belushi is a fitting sleazeball, leguizamo has the weirdest arc. overall, nothing you will remember forever, but something you can enjoy while it lasts.
