The Horse Whisperer

it's about a dude who whispers to horses

Great panoramic shots and the acting is good but it is too long and ultimately is just an afternoon weepy movie.

The film takes its time in relating the story, but patience will reward those who stick it out with a touching and compelling tale of healing and overcoming anything that ails you.

Annie (Kristin Scott Thomas), Grace's mother, intuitively senses that her daughter's recovery will be linked to Pilgrim's. She refuses to have the horse put down. With the reluctant permission of her lawyer husband (Sam Neill), she decides to drive Grace and Pilgrim to Montana in hopes of convincing Tom Booker (Robert Redford), to help the horse. He turns out to be a patient, centered, and calm healer. While working wonders with Grace and Pilgrim, Tom falls in love with Annie.

Montana sure has a nice scenery, but director Redford dwells on it so much that the overly soapy story gets a bit lost in this way overlong and dull'ish execution. *Preview*: #12#, exp-3*, story, (reviews), cast, R2.

Not as good as the book

A decent enough family movie, made stronger by Redford's appearance.

Okay, well, he's a horse whisperer up until the end, when he suddenly decides to stop whispering and tie the horse down and force it to accept a rider. Aside from that, a slllloooooooooow, very silly movie.

I could have done without the forbidden love aspect, but the film does strike a few emotional cords.

Liked it as a little lass. Haven't seen it in ages.
