The Hot Rock

Got to the end of this film and said, "oh, the Hot Rock is the diamond!" I am a very perceptive.

Passable heist movie that pushes the believability factor a little too far.

Entertaining but unimpressive heist caper where everything is just so damned convenient. Ok, so the robbery and recovery plans aren't too clever, at least the characters, oh wait, the characters aren't either.

If this had been a more traditional heist movie just with the odd gang that Redford comes up with - it would have been more enjoyable. I enjoy comic caper flicks, but this one had way too many turns. I did enjoy the acting and the actual heist, but by the end I wasn't sure what was going on.

Quite boring. While the whole concept is that nothing is going right for them, things in general tend to go well.

A fantastic caper, with good, often funny performances from the whole cast. The various turns that the story takes are incredibly fun and Peter Yates creates a palpable suspense that helps the movie feel like its worth even more. Plus, a slick Quincy Jones score.

I still love the theme music from this movie. I've seen it a number of times. Things that were done were believable and not based on special effects like would be the case today. The characters had believable personalities and the story made sense. Definitely watchable.

There is nothing special about this lighthearted heist film, but it's still very decent, well made and entertaining.
