House? More like anti-house. Only the first episode is worth watching. The other two aren't bad but a little too long and too lackluster.

Despite what the main titles and first chapter suggests, this is not a horror anthology. After the expected fairy-tale-meets-gothic-horror aesthetic of the first chapter, the second one is more of a dark comedy, and the last chapter is…an inspirational drama starring anthropomorphic cats? That final installment really does feel like the outlier, with its lighter and more conventional rigger feeling like a letdown after the first two fatefully macabre entries.

For me, the second part was the most upsetting cinematic experience in years. One could argue it’s about liberation but I saw it as a hopeless mental breakdown. My literal nightmare what could happen to myself should the stress of coping with life become unbearable. I didn’t want to stare into that unsettling void.

A genuinely impressive technical achievement in service of not very much at all substance-wise. At best, the animation's sense of physicality works towards creating genuine disgust and unease; at worst, this feels like an expensive student film whose dark fairy tale lessons are beyond familiar.

The opening instalment sets up the house as a nightmare labyrinth of altering passages and diminishing agency; the following two reduce it to a Sisyphean boulder and fail to really carry forward even a theme, diminishing the whole to an anthology linked only by superficial set design. Well animated and voiced, but narratively disappointing.

The first part is fantastic, the rest, not so good. Apart from the cockroach dance number, that deserves an award.

A strange and beautiful animation of a house where three different stories happen through different eras and even species. I liked it for the most part though some characters and settings were more compelling than others. The middle story was the worst (in a good way) with how anxious it made me feel. There's some wonderful voice acting all around, but I think my favorite was Helena Bonham-Carter's meditating cat.

Stories I and II are intriguing enough despite feeling rather derivative and predictable respectively, however their pay-off turns out decidedly less interesting than the build-up. Invariably, they feel underwritten, almost unrealized, not only in the character department, which is as sketchy as they come, but in terms of storytelling in general. The last segment is arguably the weakest; ironically, it's the only one that tries to work in some character insight, but ends up bland and repetitive.

General notes: Love the stop-motion animation. Ordering deserves credit; going from darkest to less dark to light mirrors the escape of the characters. Light at the end of the tunnel sort of thing. All endings punctuate the stories well. 1: Solid horror, great imagery of a house that constantly changes. Ominous. Ending when the parents become furniture is heartbreaking. 2: Little more comedic, slight dip in quality. Flirts with tedium. Ending is disturbing. 3: Uplifting, the funniest one.

Sanat dizaynı harika olsa da hikâyelerin ilgi çekici olmaması filmi ortalamanın biraz altında yapıyor.

Roman ve film göndermeleriyle dolu stop motion animasyon 3 kısa film. Stephen King, Kafka ve Jane Austen dan ilham alan, Hitchcock, Spike Jonze, Darren Aronofsky, Stanley Kubrick ve daha birçok yönetmenin beğendiği 1 yapım. Yapılan işi beğendim. Kaliteli. Değişik. Fakat yaratıcı değil. Ev sorunlarını iyi anlatıyor. Ama bu olaylar çözümsüz bırakılıyor. Filmlerin sonlarını beğenmedim. Bu senenin en ilginç filmi. Markette 15 evde beleş. Yap işlet devret. Evim evim güzel evim.

Depressing. Even though it's described as a dark comedy, it's basically just bad things happening to decent people/beings : the movie.

I love stop motion. This was a bit slow at times.
