The Hunt for Gollum

The makeup, sound, resolution, and sets are on par with the expensive ones, but the dialog was rather weak. Short as it is, the plot had to be stretched: like butter that has been scraped over too much bread.

Quite impressive for a fan film but it does piggyback on the Jackson trilogy very much. I didn't enjoy the dark parts since I couldn't see anything. The location scouting was top-notch. They pad in quite a bit of fanservice so the plot seemed sparse in comparison. Thus, I don't really have a fav scene since all the best parts are borrowed from the trilogy.

A little slow and definitely amatuer, but it is well made.

Very well done fan film connected to the worlds created by Peter Jackson. The story is located between The Lords of the Rings and The Hobbit. The acting is not the top notch since it is a no profit product but the mood, shooting and directing suceeds fine. I also liked the score and special effects. Fine entertainment indeed.

Well done with good choices for the actors. It's a bit boring even at the short running time. The biggest thing I have against it is that it lacks energy.

I have a mixed feeling on fan films, some are really well done and others are "fan" films, and poorly made and just a glorified worship commercial. Fortunately, Hunt for Gollum is the former of the two, and is a slick, well polished short film that most fans of the Rings trilogy can enjoy, as I did myself. The whole time thinking "They did THIS for 3,000 dollars?" It is well worth the 40 minutes of your time, especially being free. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

If they had gone for a longer run time, and tried more creative plot points instead of copying shots/lines from Jackson's trilogy, this would have been much more enjoyable.

As a companion piece for The Lord of the Rings, it works well enough. As a stand-alone product, it doesn't have the skill to be considered good or even memorable.

This was incredibly well-made for an amateur low-budget fan film; I was very impressed. I feel some scenes and lines were too similar to scenes and lines from LOTR, but that does not detract from the overall quality of the film.
