While the plot rehashes Rambo in some respects, 'The Hunted' is a tense, brutal thriller that you can accept only long enough to be caught up in its web before you start thinking about it in realistic terms and hating yourself for it. I, for one, enjoyed the film a great deal.

Intensely stupid and pointless. Even the action scenes are boring.

A movie about an elite Black Ops commando who loses it and runs amok, his specialty is the knife. Very well done from a martial standpoint, and real enough to be a horror film. However, it is crucial to realize the Del Toro's character's mind has fractured as a result of his experiences and he's constructed his own simple morality to give him some semblance of sanity. Both leads struggle to with their humanity. If none of those concepts grip you, then skip it.

Tommy Lee Jones has hunted, Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Javier Bardem, some successful, others less successful. In this movie he hunts Benicio Del Toro, albeit successful the hunt itself, the film is not very good.

A decent story like "the Fugitive" with the same actor Tommy Lee Jones.

Stupid and bad on many levels, but I'm a sucker for this kind of primal fare and like a movie that makes you go, 'wow, this crazy guy is making a lot of sense.' BDT should be commended, and TLJ's trademark curt line delivery even adds a laugh or two.

Just another kinda fun film featuring Tommy Lee Jones as a cop hunting down someone. Has a very similar feel to The Fugitive.

The only real redeeming qualities in this film are Benicio del Toro's character, performance, and the fairly realistic knife work. Other than that, it's pretty forgettable.

Not a particularly well-written storyline, but glaring plot holes and ridiculous moments aside it's fairly entertaining. A switch-off-brain and sink-into-couch sort of movie.

When I took ju-jitsu, our shihan made this film required watching. The knife fights are apparently very realistic. The rest of the movie is shit.

An intense, brutal re-imagining of Rambo, this time from the perspective of the police rather than of the fugitive. Occasionally the editing is a bit cheesy, but this is overshadowed by the long list of things this thriller gets right.

Intense performance by del Toro, Jones gives a repeat of his performance in The Fugitive, and there is virtually no story here; however, the movie is well-paced and performs okay as an action/thriller popcorn flick.

Flawed thriller with an interesting premise at its heart: a killer being hunted by his teacher. As a visceral, pared down thriller it's quite effective, but it could have ditched the Fugitive-style FBI manhunt stuff without loss - the relationship between Jones and Del Toro is what this is all about. It also has some problems with continuity, it seems to jump from scene to scene in a jarring way.

This so-called "story" would have worked better as an episode of Criminal Minds. That's what it feels like; like they took what should have been a 40 minute episode and stretched it out into a feature film, full of holes and inconsistencies. I mean, there are moments that are fun to watch, but that does not a working movie make.

As an action-thriller that spends most of its time depicting the high-stakes chase between Bonham and Hallam, this is crackerjack entertainment. The minimalist dialogue (most of the characters are learned about through their actions rather than through spoken words) has an economical effect that works well within this genre, but occasionally clashes with the picture's loftier failed aspirations.

Is it just me or did they cut a crapload out of this movie. It seems like there are sections that are missing entire chunks, and unfortunately they took parts of the plot with them. This movie was a complete mess and a complete disappointment.

I liked it. Grizzly Tommy Lee Jones sneaks through woodlands tracking down a killer - the combat is thrilling and brutal even while the movie is subdued and thoughtful. Jones is in his perfect element, and Del Toro is absorbing and fascinating to watch. Rather than being a true thriller and exposing wider corruption, it settles for showing us the relationship and duel between two men (hence also the short running time). A perfectly executed genre film - but deserved to be bigger in scope.

Very confusing. Not so much in terms of story, but in terms of time and space - during what's supposed to be a fast-moving chase, the antagonist appears to have time to conceive and construct huge and elaborate traps (like the kind that take down AT-STs on Endor's forest moon). Not to mention the way they both stop to forge knives? Sheesh. It was just really hard to wrap my brain around it.

It was alright. The knife fights were cool and all but it tried to make a moral point but failed to get you to relate to the characters. As such you just don't care all that much. With that said, the knife fights are pretty cool.

Entertaining, but over all bland. The title is blatantly exploited with underwhelming themes about the nature of mankind. The knife play is fun to watch and the scenery is gorgeous. Del Toro and Jones performances seem like this project was just another job.

I remember this being better. Its just no sane person will take T.L.Jones as a best tracker, best fighter, best knife expert. Its just too much for that silly man. And he also was running after 20y younger Del Toro on foot and then fighting him {Taken 3?]. With better/younger lead this could be a classic.

A somewhat silly thriller that is saved from complete disaster by William Friedkin's steady hand. Tommy Lee Jones looks slightly embarrassed to be doing at age 55 what Clint Eastwood was still trying to do at age 75.

Incredibly violent and very unrealistic plot line lead to this film being just another sub par thriller. It could have easily been better with a much more in tune script. It had good leads who did their best to convey the story but the script was very poor written when dealing with development.

We've seen countless state-of-the-art computer-enhanced fights in modern movies. We presume the combatants can defy any law of physics. Not Friedkin's. Their bodies draw with force relative to their size. Their limbs are heavy. Their hits land sturdily, pain felt by both parties. They pant and sweat. We're in the thick of the abrupt, grueling, strenuous brute exertion of fighting.
