Blah. Cusack and Thornton phone this one in. Tries too hard to be a Coen Brothers flick and this comedic thriller neither entertains, nor thrills. It passes time.

Main highlight is the trunk scene with Thornton and Cusack, it honestly makes for a perfect short film separate from everything else.

In my opinion, the alternate endings are better than the theatrical ending.

The Ice Harvest is a good black comedy from a seriously good group of people. I believe this is Harold Ramis' last movie that he directed. He did a great job of bringing this story about two guys who tried to get one over on the mob and all the problems that came with the bag of money. This might be one of Randy Quaid's last appearances before he was ostracized from Hollywood for being insane. He does a bang up job too. I have seen this movie before but I enjoyed it more this time.

Ugh - poor plot, script, and especially dialog do no justice to Cusack and his co-actors.

The biggest issue with this film is that you can't help comparing it with Fargo, and also Cusack and Thornton have done much better work elsewhere. It's still a mean and entertaining neo-noir which takes place during Christmas and takes full advantage of the seasonal imagery and lights etc. The cast also contains interesting names like Randy Quiad and Oliver Platt who gives one of his best performances here. It's not a classic, but worth a watch, and one of the few solid Christmas crime films.

A thrilling little dark comedy, like Coen Brothers filtered through Harold Ramis. Randy Quaid is (surprisingly) exceptionally menacing, and Billy Bob Thornton and Oliver Platt are very funny.

The Ice Harvest offers a couple of laughs, but considering the people involved, it should be a lot funnier.

Unapologetically funny yet dark comedy with usual Thornton and Cusack mannerisms topped off with a potentially great performance by Randy Quaid, who really stands out in this one as a deadly yet genius crime boss. Not Ramis's best by a long shot, but still legitimately decent.

Not too bad. The brief length meant it was over before it wore out its welcome. A fun neo-noir with John Cusack doing his typical John Cusack thing and Billy Bob Thornton swearing up a storm.

The pieces (and cast members) seem to be in place to deliver a fun crime snowballer; oddly for Ramis, he directs each of his actors as if they are in different movies, (from Platt’s broadly comic drunk through to Thornton’s steely sociopath), which means the film never finds a consistent tone or can develop a sense of comic momentum. With so much talent, it’s never boring and many of the scenes work well in isolation (especially Cusack and Thornton’s attempts to dispose of a certain trunk).

Needed to be more film noir, less comedy. Felt like an attempt at a Coens Brothers movie. The cast smooths over the rough patches. Some feel the ending could and should have been different but I thought what happens in the last scene is very funny.

I like Cusack and can forgive a lot, which is why this film is watchable, but the plot is a real mess and that's really the main point of the movie.

this is one of the best coen brothers copies i've ever seen. it does such a great imitation that i would feel bad giving it a lower score. if you are a coen brothers fan, which i presume you are (and everyone is), than this is for you.

John Cusack films have been going downhill for years, but this one is alright. It has a dark comedy feel to it that doesn't quite work, but gets close enough to make watching this movie remind me of other films that are better.

The late Harold Ramis returned to the Vacation franchise to direct this epic final chapter in the Christmas Vacation Trilogy....THIS RANKING IS FOR YOU, RAMIS!!!!!

It's funniest for those who's sense of humor is blacker than the coffee they drink everyday (like me). People who are easily offended or are more mainstream won't enjoy it, but those who are "sick" enough to laugh at a drunk getting kicked out of a bar while flirting with a christian bartender will get a kick of it.

Enjoyable, if too by-the-book neo noir. John Cusack has one character, and it's wearing thin.

Likeable blackly comic noir. It feels like a leftover from the nineties, but the nicely cynical tone and a fun part by Oliver Platt make this an enjoyable watch.

Marketed as a comedy, it really isn't funny. As a crime story, it's really quite predictable. Still, I liked how bleak and hopeless it was. As a Christmas story, it's about as refreshing as a blast of winter air to the nipples. Cusack and Thornton are up to their usual thing, but Quaid is a real surprise -- as a hard-ass crime boss, he's legitimately threatening. The movie never really comes together quite as it should, but it's still an interesting watch.

A bitterly funny and surprisingly tense movie that features a whole bunch of things I love: dark, dark humour; Christmas; contemporary noir stylings; John Cusack; strip clubs; Witchita Falls; Oliver Platt; and a kick to the scrotum.
