A nerdy cuckolded accountant obsessed with eugenics enacts his final solution using a race of super powered fish men to destroy rival ideologues the Nazis in this light family comedy.

I never liked Don Knotts as much as when he was a fish... a fish with glasses! He is, thankfully, actually more subdued in this move than he usually is.

A cut or two above the usual order of these things. At times it seems to verge on Preston Sturges-like satire. And of course Ladyfish--voiced by Miss Lou Ann Poovie!--is the hottest thing under the waves.

This film both defined and destroyed my childhood.

A marvelous tale for its time. It held up for a long while; it was still as entertaining in the 80s as it had been in the 60s (according to my mother). But it doesn't quite hold your interest in the post-Nemo era. Still a sweet and fun tale about a fish who was born in the body of a man, til he found a way to become the first Transspecies American. :)
