This movie messed me up as a little kid - especially the sink scene.

Good FX and, surprisingly, a lot of good honest laughs

Okay at best. Lily Tomlin tries her best but still there isn't much to recommend this. Toe knee :-)

Any feminist or consumer messages are soft-pedaled, but the film's dollhouse environment is not without its charm.

Believe it or not, I put this film and Robocop in the same category. In both movies, modern day consumerism is parodied and brought to eventual tragic results. This Lily Tomlin vehicle however also delivers the laughs. Sure it's dated twenty-five years later, but the message is still there.
