It borrows elements from several sources (including Watchmen, Atlas Shrugged, The Fantastic Four, and early James Bond movies) and synthesizes them to create an exhilarating piece of entertainment that works on multiple levels for all ages. One of Pixar's best - no small feat.

A surprising amount of people accuse The Incredibles of suggesting that the superheroes represent some sort of "master race" and that everyone else in inferior, or something like that. What the movie is saying is that people should be allowed to live up to their potential. The amazing animation, exhilerating action sequences and unabashed will to entertain makes The Incredibles my favorite Pixar movie so far.

What's better than a movie about a family full of superheros? The incredibles is an excellent movie for the whole family, even the little ones. The humor is clever and the action is non-stop. With a combination of all different kinds of movies, The Incredibles sets itself up as one of the best animation movies of all time. Ironically, its a movie for all ages willing to have a fun time at the theatre. Incredible is an understatement.

It was with not without trepidation that I rewatched 'The Incredibles'. Out of Pixar's most brilliant output, it had remained my favorite for all those years, and I am relieved to report that it did not disappoint. It's still fun, inventive and - yes, indeed - incredible, and I still love the characters and the great gags. And those action scenes with Dash! One of my top picks for, respectably, most enjoyable superhero flick, spy film and animated movie.

One of my all time favorites. Seen it at least 10 times, some parts way more (the scene which begins with helen asking permission to land and ends with the jet being shot by missiles in particular). I love action, I love animations, but I think it is the representation of the family bonds which made this movie so exceptional for me.

Incredible is most definitely the right word. This send-up of the classic super-hero genre takes all the basics of being a super-hero and twists them so that you just have to laugh. And the cast of characters is wonderful. Especially the children.

One of my favorite animated films; hilarious and unexpectedly touching at moments. Visually stunning, as is par for the course as far as Pixar goes; they held off on this for a while, being unsure if they had the experience to characterize humans, but they certainly put to rest any such doubts.

Pixar really are the masters of what they do. Prior to 'Up', this had too be my favourite Pixar work of genius. Once again they show Dreamworks how it should be done. Unlike most Dreamworks animations, the characters are genuinely likable, the animation is epic, the voice actors are perfectly suited to their animated buddy's and the script is very funny. Furthermore, there is a wonderful human element to this film and it's very endearing. Total comedy genius.

A James Bond film in disguise as a superhero movie for families. In fact it's so clearly a super-spy movie in disguise that I suspect that's what it was in its first draft, before they included the (very thin) superhero veneer to make something they could actually sell to the rest of us. In this film about the interior life of a middle aged white family man, Pixar proves again that (as they themselves claim) they make movies for themselves not the rest of us. But we're the ones paying for it.

The Incredibles is quite possibly my favorite animated movie. Maybe it's not as groundbreaking as early Pixar films, as poignant as Miyazaki's movies, or as "important" as something like Wall-E, but The Incredibles has well developed characters, sharp humor, great pacing, and thrilling action sequences. Beyond being a great animated film, The Incredibles is a fantastic adventure story. On top of it all, it's easy to empathize with the characters who yearn for lost youth. See this movie!

My favorite Pixar movie and arguably my favorite animated movie. It's great to see a "kids" movie tackle some adult situations and not dumb them down or sugar coat them. The action is great too for an animated movie. Maybe I wouldn't have liked this as much if I weren't a huge Super-Hero nerd but it's still a funny heartfelt movie. Kids and adults both should love it.

Pixar can't seem to make even a single mistake when it comes to elevating the artistry of animation. Likewise, while illustrating the value of an intact family or the beauty of individuality or the negative results of pride, The Incredibles is, well, incredible. It's weird that people say this is Pixar's more "adult" film, but it feels to me more targeted to children than any other Pixar film. Far less subdued than other superhero parodies, this movie really feels like it's overstays it's welcome concerning the superhero family jokes which are too obvious. Not very funny, not very exciting, and the least complex of the Pixar films. Tries to be more fun than their other work, but turns out easily being the most boring.

[rewatch] A lot of movies for kids often include a disclaimer that there's "stuff for adults too." I saw this in the theater 10 years ago, and watching it again, I'm not getting dumb jokes meant to pander to either children of their parents. There are just good jokes, along with strong characters and truly great action set-pieces. Above all, really, it's a taut, well-constructed blast to watch. It's the best Pixar movie. It's the best superhero movie. Hell, it's the best James Bond movie.

Long, slow and boring introduction to the films setting, explosions. Overused, boring speeches about morals, responsibility and family values that you feel you've heard a hundreds of times before in other films, explosions. Scenes the producers added to the film in an attempt to make the viewers laugh, but that really just ends up making you annoyed, explosions. Richard Nixon, racial stereotypes, and obvious action patterns you can see coming hours in the future. Disney at it's best, or worst.

Brad Bird may be the best director that Pixar has in their stable, which is no small feat, and he's clearly in his element here. At the same time this movie is a superhero movie, a touching family movie, and a comedy, and is able to switch between the three without losing a beat. Bird's influence isn't just felt in the directing, however, as he voices the character that steals the show, Edna Mode, as well as being the (fairly obvious) model for Syndrome.
