So clearly has a Cassavettes influence - as if he could hide behind another camera and create something a little out of his comfort zone without fear or scolding. And by Cassavettes influence, I mean it's laser-focused on the vagaries and idiosyncrasies of human nature; on the disconnect between what we say and the way we say it; the inner perversities that masquerade in the telling. It just happens to be a B-movie about a particularly rapey Incubus. I think it cuts deep, on its own terms.

Cassavetes is off the rails in his performance, and I had no idea why he was going so big or why he was smirking the whole damn time. People do alot of dumb horror shit and there's tons of bonkers dialogue.Cinematography surprises, particularly in a scene that tracks under a wheelchair to peer under a door at a murder victim, reminiscent of an Argento maneuver.can't remember more than these impressions because I still don't get the plot or backstory at all, but hey it was a fun little flick.

Surprisingly, for a low-budget film, The Incubus is a good example of well-written, well-acted, well-directed horror cinema with an unfamiliar territory as a bonus. I admit that the pace is painfully slow and characters are underwritten, but it never fails to surprise or keep the audience wondering. As far as oddity goes, The Incubus is in the same ballpark as Rosemary's Baby or Videodrome.

A good story that gets you wondering what the hell is happening the entire movie.

Enjoyed this. A lot of the characters were very odd, as were most of the words that came out of their mouths, Cassavetes was good value for money as usual, even when he had to talk about quantities of semen more often than seemed reasonable. As a whole, it maybe doesn't entirely make sense, but it was pretty well made and quite intriguing. A likeable oddity.

Absolutely bizarre. I mean what other movie has a main plot point regarding the amount and color of semen. It is brought up often. That aside, there is a very engaging dread that permeates this film to go along with some very effect gore. Cassavetes gives like 150% which can be a bit distracting. Solid.
