The Initiation

The concept is a good one, and the twist is... interesting... but at the end of the day it's just another dumb '80s slasher filled with the usual tropes (bad acting, gratuitous nudity, feathered hair).

The performances are solid for what they are, with Zuniga in particular doing a good job as the lead, but beyond that there's not much to this. The convoluted plot feels like three different movie ideas crammed into one, meaning that nothing in the story flows at all, which also means the pacing is super off. The final reveal/twist is admittedly done decently, but unfortunately it makes very little sense & feels underwhelming because of it. It also feels very, very long. Overall, definitely meh.

Psycho-star Vera Miles comes full circle in the worst possible way in this quite avarege slasher flick. Unless you, like me, have become tragically addicted to this sort of tripe, consider watching something of quality instead.

Just OK 80s slasher film.

It's an okay 80s slasher, but a slasher about sorority girls being slaughtered in a mall it should have been way more simple dumb fun. Instead the movie is dragged down by a too convoluted plot about the lead girl trying to decipher her nightmare about traumatic experience in her childhood.
