This is about the Catholic Church, an evil organization. I hate everything about them. Rapists of children. I think this film is a way to show something that happened to them that was horrible (and it was) but it is just trying to make an excuse for the criminal acts that the church committed later. Sorry, no sympathy.

There was seven sins inside the convent. I liked the symbolism of the story. Lou de Laâge was good on a lead.

A beautiful intersectionality of faith and unspeakable tragedy, duty and attachment, oppression and liberation, shame and self-sacrifice, in inexplicable and heartbreaking ways. The cinematography and vision are special, and non-verbal nuance is used to great effect. Lou de Laâge and Agata Buzek own every scene they're in.

Superficially, a straightforward film possessing a quiet, but affecting depth. Bonitzer's screenplay is good, and lends the film's characters all the most sympathetic treatment.

A very well made World War 2 story with great tragedies at its center, skillfully and carefully directed by Fontaine.

Well-presented, and dour but for the most part not maudlin. For all her struggles, the heroine is a rather predictable, two-dimensional do-gooder with no real arc; and opposing her is a pretty definite (if sad) villain. This prevents the conflict and general dynamic of the film from ever transcending what remains just an original and interesting premise.

This film portrays one of the great temptations for the religious believer--to preference laws over love, principles over people, guidelines over grace. Such misdirected holiness yields a culture of death in the very midst of a place that should be (and on the surface is) deeply concerned about life. The film narrates this division beautifully, in the process illustrating (via a nonbeliever!) what should be at the heart of a truly Christian life in this world--caring for the unfortunate.

A toned down drama in a convent filled with pregnant nuns. Intriguing and down to earth in a spiritual way as these nuns deal with their dilemma. Wouldn't say it's the most thrilling drama ever made, but it makes an impression.
