Just saw the premiere at the Berlin film festival, but that's the best for me to say about this film. It's just another thriller with a weak story. Ok, there is a very nice action scene in it but that can't help about the weak plot. Also the actors play just too wooden. Not because they're bad in general but because Tykwer lead them simply too bad.

I really wanted to give this a much higher score than I did. However it is marred with problems. During the major action sequence a character commits the complete opposite of what he should, with plot-driving results and Naomi Watts' character feels like a complete 3rd wheel to the plot. However the cinematography in this is fantastic, the dialog is superb and Clive Owen is fantastic in a great role. Overall it's much better than the average thriller but it's nothing that will below your mind.

It's really well made it's just the story is so meh. The Guggenheim scene is incredible and extremely competent and if the whole movie was like that we would've had one amazing movie. The ending is such bullshit that I just felt robbed. Naomi Watts felt awkward in this but Clive Owen is such a badass you almost forget about it.

Let's stop slamming this one because it's expository and begs you to not dismiss it as a shoot-em-up actioner. Clive Owen is a solid performer, the thinking man's action star as he brings gravity to a timely, but far-fetched conspiracy thriller. Nonetheless, this one's engaging. The pursuit kept me intrigued throughout, and that breathtaking action sequence everyone's talking about - it's as good as they say and then some. The film feels ultimately anti-climactic, but it's hugely entertaining.

A good thriller, Jason Bourne Style. It has a well written plot, good dialogues and an excellent action sequence. Clive Owen seems to work well in these types of film. Well, it's not an unforgettable film, does not shows something new to the genre, but it's a good entertaining.

The International suffers from a poor plot that features a great deal of unrelated content, as well as a lack of characters. It has people, but there is no development or depth to them. It's like we're already expected to know all about them and care about their plight. Well, I'm sorry, but I couldn't care. This isn't a poorly made film, and the shootout in the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum was actually very thrilling, but for the most part, nothing matters and this isn't a film worth your time.

W/ a tricky, yet rarely clever storyline, hard-2-believe contrivances & 1 too many scenes of exposition, the film can't get past neutral. There's a fantastic shootout at the Guggenheim, but little else. Owen, as usual, glowers at every1 & Watts does her best 2 shine as an unnecessary character that seems 2 have been shoehorned in to attract female viewers. So sluggish u spend ur time wondering how real-life bail-out desperate bankers could ever manage 2 pull a conspiracy this labyrinthine off.

I literally felt as though Clive Owen walked right out of CHILDREN of MEN, and right into this movie... And that's a good thing, I guess... His conviction to his character's obsession was vital to the ride... A ride that I enjoyed. Both intellectually, AND viscerally... (But, to glean another layer, find ZEITGEIST: The MOVIE on YouTube!)

Wants to be a Bond/Bourne-like film, and possibly spawn sequels, but I for one will not see a 2nd. Banks are the bad guy, and that's all well and good, but the plot is a bit weak, things just seem to happen to easy. Plus for great shootout scene in the museum.

A solid conspiracy thriller with ideas I can sort of get behind. Decent everything, with an inspired shoot out. There's nothing bad about this except for a few wooden lines and the like, but very little that's great. Except for Naomi Watts, and the movie could have used more (any) of her naked since she's my celeb crush but yeah, I digress. Decent flick.

Better than I was expecting, although still not brilliant. The writing is so blah it's not even worth mentioning, but Tykwer manages to make an interesting construction in spite of it. The climax comes a little too early at the Guggenheim, and everything after that is perfunctory, didn't really hold my interest and frankly wasn't very logical, but I would say this is worth your time.

The kind of film that usually gets written up in the TV listings as "taut thriller" or "solid thriller". I can't describe it much better than that. Inhabits the same world as the Bourne trilogy and equals their achievements. Clive Owen is convincing as a tough Interpol agent and Ulrich Thomsen is excellent as always. The loose ends of the plot don't all seem to tie up, but isn't that the point of these films sometimes?

The film is a film that tastes like James Bond from the beginning to the end. It has excellent action scenes and even a scene, I felt like I was in a very successful form of the fighting. Pang I stumbled upon the staging scenes like other movies, I even said I watched this movie. My Notes 100/75

The International was a film I watched purely by chance at the cinema due to the screening of 'Gran Torino' being sold out. In hindsight I wish I'd of just saved my money and gone home. What a bland, drawn out and in every way boring excuse for a thriller. I've never really been a fan of Clive Owen or Naomi Watts and from memory the pair lacked chemistry. However I do recall some attractive cinematography and an impressive shoot out. Otherwise this was a completely forgettable experience.

If you're looking for an action shoot 'em up you'll probably enjoy the Guggenheim scene but otherwise be disappointed. If you're looking for a more thought provoking film about the grey economy, politics and graft this could be ideal. A cross between Divinci Code, Bond and the Bourne Identity. Not bad, great scenery and will make you think - weak ending though.

Some of the reasons for its poor reputation derive from failing to meet generic expectations: little sense of the character of the protagonists; no grand dramatic finale sequence. But other problems are more severe, such as the uncomfortable mix between its pretensions at being a complex presentation of the dark side of globalised finance and its preoccupation with assassinations and large-scale destruction. Combined with some poor dialogue, the result comes across as always a little silly.

Seems like a homage to a particular genre of 1970s spy thrillers. In terms of look and pacing this is very much a tribute to a particular style of 70s film, but it doesn't quite reach the levels of the films it's paying tribute to. Owen is solid, but the rest of the cast just fade into the background. It might copy the style of 70s spy thrillers, but it fails to back it up with interesting characters or any kind of depth of plot. Sorely disappointing considering Tykwer's past work.

The Guggenheim sequence was obviously the highlight, well-staged and shot. Everything else was ho-hum or worse. Most notably on the negative ledger: Naomi Watts was terribly miscast--not tough enough to be believable in her job. Worse though was the writing, which throws out more one-line "words of wisdom" than not, a tactic that becomes downright egregious as the film progresses.

My oh my, is this ever dull. It's stern and serious and focused to a fault, almost entirely absent of any energy as it tightens its jaw and purses it lips and sets about being a highly refined political thriller. Tykwer displays none of the wild, inventive verve that launched him on the scene with Run Lola Run a decade earlier. In its place is a personality-free, professional sheen that looks accomplished enough, but has no inner life whatsoever.
