Enjoyable caper thriller is perhaps too obviously crafted in the shadow of Soderbergh's OCEAN'S 11 (and never reaches such lofty heights), but a capable cast and some good action direction from Gray makes this breezy fun, even selling this disinterested car watcher on the beauty and style of the Mini-Cooper (especially as driven by Theron). Leads to a genuinely gripping and preposterously exciting climactic chase, even if the ultimate resolution falls somewhat flat.

It's really just an elongated commercial for the new Mini Coopers, but like BMW Films' series The Hire (with Clive Owen), that's not necessarily a bad thing. Norton was contractually forced to make this film, and it shows in his performance. The car chases, however, are tons of fun. Seth Green is hilarious, and I like Mark Wahlberg, even if sometimes I probably shouldn't -- I just do. This could be a much better movie (and wouldn't you know it, the original is), but it's still a fun time-waster.

The first two acts hit all the right beats for a fun heist plot, including a couple well-timed "wrench-in-the-plan" twists, keeping it engaging through some less-than-stellar humour and characterization (Theron's Stella is tragically reduced to nothing more than a "got girl" by movie's end in a vomit-inducing end credits scene). The great car-chase action of the third act, meanwhile, leads to a less than satisfying deus-ex-machina ending courtesy of some unnecessary side characters.

The Italian Jobs is not unentertaining, and honestly it has some cool aspects. It's cast, while not good in any traditional sense, seems like they're having fun. Besides Norton, but I mean, he really did not want to do it. This one is just a good turn your mind off flick, maybe a tad superior to The Fast and Furious franchise.

A highly watchable and entertaining caper film. The cast all play their parts with enthusiasm and have a very nice chemistry. Norton is obviously the cream of the crop but Wahlberg, Theron, Statham, Mos Def, and even Seth Green hold their own very well. Also has some very fun car chases.

It is a minor league version of Ocean's Eleven. I mean not exactly the same type of movie but the same idea. Some of the chase scenes are pretty cool, and that is what makes the movie watchable. Wahlberg is aight (insert your Boston accent).

The movie is basically a 2 hour long mini cooper ad. The all star Hollywood cast is a bit of a snooze because it's so typically commercial in every facet. Everyone gets their turn to mug for the camera and spout their witty one liner. Completely forgettable remake that reveals just how out of fresh ideas Hollywood is at this point.

i originally gave this a 68 from memory, but I re-watched it and liked it a lot more. However, while in some spots you can really suspend your disbelief b/c the heists are supposed to be fun and a little outlandish, I had a problem believing that anyone could survive driving a car into water with ice floating in it, remaining submerged for minutes and then swimming to shore- c'mon people!

Two gripes: it's called The Italian Job yet the only hat-tip to the (superior) original is the use of the Minis so this seems more like a marketing decision than film-related and that's annoying, and when you put an actor as good as Donald Sutherland in a film with lesser actors it really shows up their limitations. That said, fairly enjoyable.

The Italian Job is a heist film, and with that genre, comes clichés that almost always apply. They do apply in this film, and they make the film very predictable. There are some fun action sequences, and if you are a fan of the actors, it isn't a total waste, but you can do far better in terms of heist films or action scenes. It's not terrible but it isn't all that good either.
