The Killing of Two Lovers

This movie was interesting, tense and engaging up to the last few seconds that made it feel unfinished. It's not that the ending was bad, it seemed to be missing. It was pretty decent until then. I wonder if they ran out of money? It's a very good movie but I've subtracted lots of points for the crap ending.

So low-key it almost self-combusts, this is still a powerful if somewhat insubstantial drama that thankfully never portrays either of its characters in superficial ways (toxic male or heartless shrew) and gets most of its energy from Crawford's study in jittery agitation. There's a real sense of authenticity here, especially the way in which antagonist Coy is subtly built up throughout the film. If it were just a little longer and perhaps more conclusive, this would have gotten a higher score.

A somewhat bleak depiction of a relationship on the rocks and how its played out with the kids in the middle of it all. Set in a rural area, with some semi decent cinematography. Its nothing new really but its an ok watch. Not brilliant, not awful. I'm not sure I'd overly recommend it as such, though it is somewhat atmospheric in tone.

Gripping.

Emotional and powerful

The main character's smoldering anger takes center stage in this tightly written family drama. The audience and David don't know what he is capable of and to what length he will go to satisfy his anger. Truly riveting while also being quite tender in moments. Strong work.
