The Lady Who Dared

The Lady Who Dared

1931
Drama
Conway Tearle stars as Jack Norton, a diamond smuggler operating in South America who is strong-armed into participating in a blackmail scheme. Norton is to obtain several compromising photos of Margaret Townsend (Billie Dove), the wife of American consulate Charles Townsend (Sidney Blackmer). The plan collapses when the "hero" falls in love with Margaret. As one of several "comeback" attempts for silent-film beauty Billie Dove, The Lady Who Dared was a flop. (allmovie.com)

A fine minor drama where the elegant but unspectacular Conway Tearle made a good character. The main drawing card is Billie Dove, though she didn't really stand out in anyway compared to her contemporary precode ladies. Average performance in an average production.
