The Lady in Red

Em honra de Robert Conrad (1935 - 2020). Apesar da Polly Franklin ser absolutamente ficcional (levemente baseada na última namorada de Dillinger, Polly Hamilton), é um excelente filme sobretudo pelo roteiro do Sayles que mostra com atenção como mulheres, negros e comunistas eram tratados nos anos 30. Short and watchable, but unfortunately a bit dull despite taking an interesting approach to Dillinger (following instead the woman who was with him when he was killed.)

Actually pretty good; Marketed as another Corman gangster film, it's closer to a pre-code film and shows the grim struggle of the "lady in red" who was with Dillinger when he got shot. The script by John Sayles probably invents most of her story which takes her from a small town and an abusive father to e.g. dance halls, jail, brothel and finally Dillinger which only takes maybe 1/3 of the length. The film also pays a lot of attention to the era and how women and black people got treated.
