Nostalgia for a corporation that killed small traders and limited film choice/selection, contributing to the widening of the cultural void. Lloyd Kaufman, who hates Blockbuster, is the 'celebrity' highlight, and some interesting points were made about the aesthetic influence of the logo and store design on consumers, although they were not sufficiently explored. The woman in charge of the 'last Blockbuster' is likeable enough, but this 'documentary' fails to critically engage with its subject.

A little bit too much repetition, but it's interesting at times and some the interviews are a lot of fun.

This is boring and poorly constructed. Don't take 40 minutes to answer your opening question. Who cares about the detailed corporate history of Blockbuster. Nearly put me to sleep. Get to the point of why there's still a remaining Blockbuster and focus on that before the film is half over. Clearly, there isn't much of a story here. I hate Blockbuster and nostalgia, so Blockbuster nostalgia is pretty awful. And yes, I remember Blockbuster well. It was shit and their selection was garbage.

The subject is interesting ,and therefore there were a few interesting moments in this documentary. The lady who manages it seems nice. But there is maybe 30 minutes of material in this 90 minute movie. I don't think this was well made, and some of the supposed celebrities that were interviewed were obnoxious and oversold how much they loved the video store, perhaps in order to maximize their appearance time in the documentary.

Rating this documentary poorly tells me y'all never set foot inside a freakin' Blockbuster. This documentary is informative, it's got clever editing, it makes you want to pick up and go to Bend, Oregon. Get outta here with your crappy ratings. I have very fond memories of Blockbuster, both as a customer and as an employee. And this serves up heaping upon heaping of nostalgia, which is passably entertaining. But man, it's just poorly put together and most of the talking heads offer little of interest, or worse, are actively annoying. The voiceover is just terrible, as well.

Glib, no substance. Very surface-level, serves as self-promotion and self-flagellation above anything else.

This documentary is an interesting look at the rise and fall of Blockbuster video stores. Some things I already knew but there were other points that I had not heard before. Overall I would recommend this movie.

Does a pretty good job making you care about and miss a company that is basically the Walmart of the video rental world. Some absolutely insufferable nerds in this, but Scheer and Kaufman are gems. Shoutout to the real video stores I went to as a kid (Willow Video [who are still hanging on] and Video World [RIP] on my dads street). The best part of blockbuster/other major chains was when they closed I built up a big chunk of my DVD collection.

Having watched Blockbuster rise & fall, this was made for someone like me, but mileage may vary on that count. What surprises is that only the first third is concerned with explaining that rise & fall, while the rest of the film is literally about the last store & I became deeply invested in the survival of this place - despite some lame comic bits & comedians. I think it's b/c the owner's such a likeable underdog who's keeping the place running on determination, goodwill & resourcefulness.
