Mildly interesting, but probably not for the reasons intended. I was mostly intrigued by the exploitation of the local culture, becoming corrupted or at least changed by (Western) tourism. Spiritually it's not fully up there I feel, though it does have some nice glimpses. It's remarkable to see the determination of James on his journey. I wish it was more explained and detailed. As a whole I feel there is a lack of focus, which is a pity because I think the ingredients were all there.

A little slapdash maybe, but the montage with Pepe is interesting, as is James' father's damning of psychiatry. No idea as to the extent of dramatisation . . turning the rural village into a gringo retreat was diabolical. I'd rather we had our own shamans, than obliviate Peru's.
