You start losing interest in the plot when the cards are revealed and you know what the movie is about.

I'm atheist already and that guy wouldn't even convince me to breathe. The plot is just abrasive and predictable. Which is a shame because it could have been a good vessel for reflections about fundamentalism.

Nice story, timing and good scenery. Nothing out of extraordinary, thought.

This was pretty solid. Some of it was a little wonky and didn't go in such a great direction, but when it comes down to it... I could appreciate that it wasn't totally black and white in how it portrayed Christians OR atheists. Usually it's easier to just stereotype so film makers cheap out and do that. But these people really exist, and there's good and bad in both of them. Ultimately, the one character becomes the villain, but that's fine. It also didn't cheap out on the ending!

You call this a suspense movie? I figured the rest of the plot after the first fifteen minutes. On top of a completely dull plot, they throw in Liv Tyler as a love interest? That's like a mom comforting her bullied son with a wedgie.

I was into it despite all the ridiculousness but then it was too much. Really? "Go and stand on a ledge all morning, drawing the attention of police and media, then jump when the clock strikes twelve, mkay?" "Ok" - says the *rational* guy?

Decent, very strong performance from Wilson. Terrence Howard always delivers. Apart from that, nothing spectacular but fairly interesting. I liked the religious discussions although no one had anything new to say on the subject.

If they hadn't used the ending they did, it would have been pretty mediocre. Also, a little off balance on the Christian vs. non Christian; Down to earth cool guy vs. psycho Christian guy...

I really didn't care for the narrative structure of this story. And that includes the narration provided by Charlie Hunnam's character. I think the script in general is too on-the-nose and too pointed in trying to get it's point across. It paints its heroes and villains a little too easily to justify story needs.

unexpectedly good movie about love-faith-death... nice conflict between the atheist and `the one who was by Jesus`

It wants to win you over with its pessimistic speech about religion -- ultimately, the man without God has a cause to die for, and that's what matters, while the Jesus freaks don't --, but the whole picture just feels like an immense and long cinematic trick, filled with a story that eventually leads nowhere.

One of the stupidest movies I've seen in awhile. The entire plot is contrived considering he could've said why he was on the ledge in the first 5 seconds and thus prevented the entire ordeal. But the stupid director had to go on diatribes about religion for the entire movie, just beating you to death with his views. We get it, you aren't a fan of jesus. Minus Liv Tyler showing her tits, had almost no redeeming scenes. Waste of time

"This is a film that sincerely believes that it's crafting a thoughtful debate on the conflict between faith and reason." - Jesse Cataldo

Wonderful, a film fleshes out characters to illustrate the origins of various forms of faith and it is reviled critics, because it gets a bit heavy-handed on the anti-religiosity. The Ledge is an intelligent, straightforward exploration of drives that transcend self-preservation. Well-acted and expertly directed, it's touchingly to the point.

Dull dialogue with labored acting and a seemingly unedited script. You can find better things to do with your time if you're looking for 100 minutes to kill

I can't say I wasn't compelled throughout. I very much was. But I can see how many say the framing contrivance of its concept turns out to be a special kind of ludicrous, its theological and intellectual polemic rootlessly lathered on top. Ambition and intellect help drive The Ledge in a genuinely unpredictable direction, and often airs a worldview that is too seldom expressed in media, but what should've been a pure thriller ends up having cajoled you into a talky, heavy-handed high melodrama.
