Some of Grau's great eye for rattling you, but simply too slow.

It's a beautiful film and an interesting story but it feels really long and very slow even though it's only 90 minutes.

An admirably sober treatment of Gothic horror themes (these things have a way of spiraling out of control into pure camp), but the pace is so sluggish that all you really take away from it is the incredible atmosphere.
