The Lesser Blessed

Heart-felt attempt at a character study suffers from a poorly established sense of place and from the disparity between the erudite narrator & the subtly smartass, but mostly quiet First-Nations boy with a lot of suffering in his past. Joel Evans, he of the soulful gaze, is quite good with what he's given & Bratt brightens anything he's in but the film seemed too focused on making Evans' character a punching bag. Final shots almost redeem the whole thing though.
