Not as carnavalesque as similar biography Ed Wood, still leaves a wonder. Sellers played by Rush in one of his best performances is better left not understood. In my humble opinion a really doppelganger kind of an actor leaves a trace of destruction behind. Maybe the same is true for Rush, who knows.

Rush does a good job impersonating Sellers and his various roles but what is the point? Feels far too gimmicky, none of the other characters are particularly believable or sympathetic and there is absolutely no insight gained. The hospital deathbed vision and "acid trip" scenes caused severe cringing.

Rush is makes a great Sellers and the story is interesting, otherwise it's a pretty conventional biopic.

Strong cast elevates this fairly simple biopic.

Sellers was a terrific actor and, um, eccentric human. Supported by a good cast, Rush manages, occasionally remarkably, to portray not only him but also his various on and off camera roles. Despite the obvious fictionalization, the insight into his relationship with his parents, first wife and kids and the backstage access we get is interesting and in some cases fascinating and unsettling. Yet the final act's attempt to compress his last dozen years and the 'abstract' ending felt rather anemic.

Hopkins is completely unsuited to the material and delivers a straight-down-the-middle biopic, with characters and events rushing (no pun intended) by without making a great deal of impact. He appears to have no sense of comic timing, or how to depict the creative process; Sellers doesn't improvise or work on bits, he simply has epiphanies on the perfect way to do things. The myth of Kubrick being a humourless weirdo gets trotted out, but it's still fun, and I would have liked more of him.

A middling documentary. Blame the director/writer, not the lead actor whose interpretation is strong.

Wherein we learn that had Peter Sellers not been employed as an actor, this self-described empty vessel of a human being would merely have been a full-time asshole. Geoffrey Rush gives a fine, Sellersian performance, eradicating his personality and giving an impenetrable surface.

In a way a biopic that is completely focused on a gimmicky performance is an appropriate way to approach Peter Sellers. But it doesn't make for a particularly good movie.

I would recommend this movie based on a very strong performance by Geoffrey Rush. Rush does a great job in portraying many of the great characters Sellers played. I didn't like some of the ways the story was presented. The director made some unusual choices that didn't always work.

I don't like Biography movies with some exceptions, like "The Motorcycle Diaries". The idea and filming of TV movie (?!) about Sellers life is really poor. Wonderful cast (specially Geoffrey Rush) saved the movie and made it worth to watch.

I think this is really fantastic, especially for a TV movie. Geoffrey Rush is one of the finest living actors and he is in top form - a lot of work must have gone into his superb performance. The rest of the cast is good, but not in the same league. This biopic tells its story in a semi-expressionistic way, which is probably rarer than it should be for this type of movie, but might throw some people off. very good. It manages to inform us of his life and make a point at the same time.
