The animation and voice acting is on par with the first, but the new characters just aren't as good as anyone from the first. The story of Lion King 2 is influenced by Romeo and Juliet which makes it interesting to say the least, but the villains and even the romance, which is far more prevalent this time, aren't as well developed as the likes of Scar and the relationship between Simba and Nala in the first Lion King. Nonetheless, it is an acceptable sequel to an animated masterpiece. Meh!

This is a very well made sequel. Great animation, story, and music. Sticks to the Shakespeare storyline too; First movie is like Hamlet, while the sequel is like Romeo and Juliet.

The best Disney sequel. That isn't saying much, but it is what it is.

While not nearly what the first one was, it is by far the best Disney sequel, and not a bad movie on it's own right. It's just cliche.

The Lion King trilogy! Experience the power of "love" -- as Kiara, Simba's strong-willed daughter, seeks adventure away from her father's watchful gaze. Timon and Pumbaa can do only so much to protect her, especially when she encounters an intriguing rival, Kovu, a cub who is being groomed to lead Scar's pride. As Kiara and Kovu search for their proper places in the great "Circle Of Life," they discover that it may be their destiny to reunite their prides and bring peace to the Pride Lands.

This is my least favorite of the Lion King movies. I would say there are two things wrong with this one. First, there isn't as much music and the music they have is mostly dark and ominous. In fact that's the second thing that is wrong with this film, it's too dark. The whole story is that a pride of lion's were exiled after Scar was killed. They want to take over the throne and send Scar's next in line to finish the job. Not as many laughs and dark but still a decent movie.

Question: Where is Zira in TLK 1? Scar takes over a kingdom and she plays homemaker somewhere else? With her personality? I just did not like this movie... it taints the original, if you ask me. Overdone plot, no great new characters... and don't even get me started on the song 'Upendi'.

I loved it as a child but now I see it's really lacking. They tried to use the same formula as the one from the original movie (they only took a different Shakespearian drama for the plot's outline) but failed to recreate the charm the first part had.

Stupid horrendous songs, lame story that tries to bludgeon you with it's message that we are all one just makes a very mediocre sequel that much worse...much much worse...!

Simba's Pride is a watchable but unworthy straight to video sequel to follow the timeless Disney classic The Lion King. There should have either been no sequel at all or instead a sequel of higher story telling and animated quality that should have been released in cinemas. What we get instead is forgettable. There a some moments and ideas that I liked but the songs are hit and miss, the new characters just don't tie in and overall the story telling is sloppy and contradictory to the original.

Separating it from its predecessor, this movie isn't bad at all, which is rare for Disney sequels. The music is solid.

rvw. comparatively it might be a 98. cuz lil parts and songs are meh. and the evil lions are meh even though the lore is dope and their looming and plotting unsettled me :P. but i love their romance. and i love kiara. kovu's story good. and a few songs are worthy of the 1st movie. Jan 2021 99 much off strength of 1, some 90 moments but some songs are 100. and this has the better opening

A bit better than most other Disney straight to video sequels, as it doesn’t just repeat the story beats and themes of the original and attempts to do a few semi fresh things. Still Simba’s constant, constant “Where’s my daughter!” the whole movie gets pretty damn tedious.

Unusual but blatant money-grab from Disney. Intents to recreate some of the best and most emotional scenes from the original but fails in giving them the time nor the charm to allow it naturally, the pace is all over the place and it ruins moments that otherwise would have been wonderful. The difference between the talent, time and production involved in the animation, the writing and direction of the film between this one and its predecessor makes the details very distracting at times.

So the first one was Hamlet and the second one is Romeo & Juliet, right? (And I've heard 1 1/2 is Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead) What's next? Titus Andronicus? Actually, that would be kind of cool.

Now, I can understand why is this production a legend . As a screenplay, it is a common story. But the technic is perfect. I mean the atmosphere, the colors and the living creatures express the life itslef. And the music, yeah, it smells quality.

Simba's Pride could refer to the literal pride of lions that he leads, but it can also refer to his daughter since he takes great pride in her. Very clever title. The rest of the movie on the other hand? Not so clever.

In a way it should get some credit for being on of the better or least awful straight to video Disney movies out there, if the writing wasn't so lazy it could have actually been good. So Scar had a group of lion followers? Where were they in the first film.
