The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

The simple (and sometimes bizarre) animation shows its age, and the pacing is more relaxed than we've grown used to, but this movie has a certain primal power that lends gravitas to its venerable source material. I ultimately prefer the 2005 live-action version, but this one's no slouch, either.

Excellent animated version of the C.S Lewis story great for all ages.

The animation is almost surreal in this version. I also recall that they cut out a great deal of the story even though it was already fairly short.

A hokey mockery of the wonderful book.

I haven't read the book, nor have I seen this movie for ages. However, I do remember enjoying it a lot as a kid.

Not nearly as bad as the live-action BBC miniseries, but that's not saying much.

Fairly crappy.

On the one hand, it's by the same guy who made all those Charlie Brown specials, and those were always favorites of mine. On the other, there are some very strange moments here, always feeling like there's a lot of the story being left out. And the queen is way too much a cartoony villain to fit in with the rest. It's not quite as complete as the 2005 version (I do wish they had finished that series), but it generally gets the main points across.
