The Little Rascals

Screw you all, I love this. Granted, the heavy majority of that is childhood nostalgia, but I still enjoy watching it. I think I've seen it more than any other movie; once in theaters, 20 times on VHS (I once watched it 9 nights in a row, and I was 14 at the time), four or five times on DVD...shut up. Alright it's mediocre as hell. But I'll still watch it!

All the old gang -- beanie, derby, cowlick, bowtie, overalls, and all -- living in a time warp in contemporary Los Angeles. Spheeris regularly speeds up the physical action, but there's nothing she can do about the draggy voices, or their piercing pitch. (The spectator, of course, can exit screaming.) If there were any great demand for this kind of thing, or any desire to pay tribute to the real thing, why not a compilation of a half-dozen or so of the original shorts?

Sickeningly cute and saccharine. I actually auditioned for the role of Spanky in this and though I was a damn cute kid there was simply no way I could compete with Travis Tedford's cherubic dimple and easy southern twang.

Not being familiar at all with the original Little Rascals productions, I can't really give an accurate score based on the Rascals universe. I can say, however, that this film on its own is atrocious. This is no fault at all of the kids in the film, they do the best they can. The failure comes from the inability of the adult film crew to create anything worthwhile from what was available.

Fluffy, but very fragile.

My sister and I watched this a lot when I was a kid, so it's got nostalgia factor, but it's really not that great.

I still don't have a pickle and I am yet to be inducted in to the 'He-Man Womun Haters Club'.

Being unfamiliar with the original shorts, it’s unclear whether the smarmy adult dialogue in the kids’ mouths is a baked in part of the premise, but it’s the deal-breaker here: the screenplay sends these kids way past Uncanny Valley into full on creepy (with a running erection joke!?!?) Not that putting kids in adult situations is inherently bad, but when presented as saccharine, juvenile entertainment, it causes a hard-to-bridge tonal void. Adult cameos are amusing and trump the kiddie cast.

Lots of fun (if u love kids i.e.). Kudos to the director and crew for this unique accomplishment (try filming one kid in action and u will know the difficulty levels involved).

Just a truly fun, innocent and entertaining family film, that delivers on all fronts.

Great for the kids, pretty funny and cute all-around.

Good

Captures some of the charm of the young actors, but really isn't feature length material. An entire cast of kids means that you're going to have some kids that just can't cut it. And when you've got adult actors working with a script for kids... Meh.

Embarrassed to say I like this is my youth, but hell I was only 9. I know better now.

I defy you to find something more unnecessary than this movie.

Maybe charming and could be watchable. Even as a kid I could not get through this in one sitting.

I distinctly remember not liking this even as part of the target audience. I may not have seen it in several years, but I think it's safe to say my opinion wouldn't change much.

The Little Rascals is childish, scattershot and not especially well written. It is however, loading with great cameos, funny moments, cute music and a wonderful cast of child actors.

Seen: a lot. This was a go to for a period of time when I was a kid. But I hadn't seen it in probably 20 years. It's actually, surprisingly holds up well and is pretty funny. The child acting overall isn't terrible. The cameos come fast and furious. It's a pleasant watch, and one my five year olds enjoyed.

I liked as a kid, if you watch children today, I think I would also like, then it is not that bad.
