The Long, Long Trailer

I felt like I was watching an extended episode of "I Love Lucy"

Viewed March 30, 2018. A couple of the sequences definitely have the requisite Minnelli excitement - I like the complete and utter chaos of Lucille Ball trying to cook dinner in the moving vehicle, and the climb up the mountain that closes the film has a certain harrowing power. But ultimately the film, for lack of a better descriptor, rarely rises above its sitcom roots. It's mildly pleasant, but never really gets anywhere. Kind of like a long trailer.

This is entertaining throughout and has a few laugh out loud moments.

Lua de Mel agitada estreava há 70 anos nos EUA. Todo mundo sabe que o Minnelli é um dos meus diretores americanos favoritos, mas nunca consegui gostar tanto de suas comédias de costumes tanto quanto seus musicais ou dramas (esse aqui, O pai da noiva), sem falar que Mickey's Trailer (1938) conspurcou totalmente essa experiência, ficava lembrando do desenho animado e de I Love Lucy o tempo todo. YTS.

Enjoyable albeit aggravating road trip with a henpecked husband trying to put up with his zany redhead wife. On the plus side, Fred and Ethel stayed home for this one.
