A racetrack melodrama, The Long Shot features Marsha Hunt and Gordon Jones as trainers of a thoroughbred horse. A cheap horse racing movie distributed through the soon-to-be-bankrupt Grand National Pictures. The quality isn't that bad if you can stand a routine story on a budget. On the good side this has C. Henry Gordon as the bad guy as well as capable performances from Harry Davenport & George E. Stone. Gordon Jones in the lead doesn't make an impression either way. The main problem is the script and the pace it creates. Should have focused harder on a action finish for this falls fairly flat.
