Perhaps my prior perception of this movie was a little skewed by knowing that it was remade as and Adam Sandler vehicle, but I would have thought it would have been far more obnoxiously stupid than it actually was. It's basically the same thing as "Cool Hand Luke" but with a little less seriousness, and a lot more football. I'm not exactly thrilled about the football, but it was a fun movie anyway.

Way better than the remake, a genuine comedy but pretty gritty in the relationships.

There were a lot of moments that really make this film stuck in the 70s. The whole mud in the boots scene, or the moment when Caretaker asks Burton why he shaved points. Overall the film is fun, but I'm not eager to rewatch it

Much like SLAP SHOT, this marks another widely praised, sports focused 70s comedy that just doesn’t land with me – interesting how slavishly the Sandler remake copies it, even down to the unnecessarily harsh fate one of the characters receives. Reynolds seems to cruise along in laid-back dullard mode, leaving the admittedly colourful supporting cast to pick up the slack: Kiel is fun to have around as always, and Hampton is reliably solid as a chief ally.

Much better than the Adam Sandler remake. It's almost beat for beat the same movie, but with a 70s aesthetic and more racial slurs.

Ünlü rugby oyuncusu hapse girerse. İyi 1 araba takip açılış sahnesiyle başlayan film, Burt Reynolds'un hapise girmesiyle işler değişiyor. Hapishane filmlerinin 1 yenisi. Burt Reynolds'un en iyi filmi. Kötü de oynamıyor. Biraz fazla uzun tutulmuş. Mahkumlardan 1 rugby takımı kurup gardiyanlara maç yapıyorlar. Filmin sonunda, yarım saat süren 1 maç var. Kazanan MM. Sütaş Ayran içeceksin. İçtikce iyileşeceksin.

I enjoy the film's rebellious nature but it's just not that good. This idea that someone would spend 30 extra years in prison just to win a football game is such an old Hollywood cliche that's not a thing any normal person would do. Any of these old "JUST BE A MAN" films make me roll my eyes so hard and this is no exception. There's entertaining parts and scenes, though, and even the customary annoying Burt Reynolds Laugh

WEBRip BLUDV

Equal parts tough and funny, and led by a perfectly cast Burt Reynolds, The Longest Yard has an interesting political subtext and an excellent climax -- even if it takes too long to get there.

I was actually impressed after watching this, realizing that the remake was a pretty faithful retelling. So there was some things I enjoyed more in the remake, but I feel like this corrected a bunch of the negatives of the Adam Sandler version, though some secondary characters weren't built upon as much as I would have hoped. Some pretty cool directing choices throughout, especially during the game.

Doesn't really work as a drama or a comedy. The premise is silly and the execution is very tedious, especially the climax. It's not exactly bad, though, just a bore.

Decent enough cons versus guards story, I found myself watching intently as the clock ticked down in the 4th Quarter. You obviously know how it's going to end but you'll be rooting for them nonetheless

Mistake - In the scene where Burt Reynolds is talking to the inmates before the first practice, hanging from a goalpost behind him is a tire goes from swinging slowly to swinging pretty hard during the entire scene.

You know, I liked it, but it wasnt great, Maybe because I saw the remake 1st, I was expecting that level of slickness, and this film has virtually no slickness. But its still watchable

At the time this was a great movie - at least the 14 year old me thought so. It doesn't hold up very well.

I enjoyed this film. It is much better than it's remake (which was actually entertaining). Burt shows off his old University of Florida Football skills along with a great cast of cameos. Eddie Albert is very good.
