Meets all of the standards of a typical action film: Dumb, stereotypical and most of the characters are criminally uninteresting. The action is passable and entertaining enough, and the simplistic plot works a majority of the time although the ending is sort of unresolved and pointless. Villian is awful and corny. Chris Evans is one of the most underrated actors ever. He completely outshined everybody.

When your ending credits sequence is more exciting and cooler than the movie itself, you know there's a problem. A shame, because the comic was pretty good and seemed a natural fit for a movie. Alba, Morgan and (surprisingly) Evans were pretty decent. Too bad the action is silly, the comic relief moments fall flat, the whole thing is pretty forgettable and Max truly is one of the worst villains ever committed to film. Oh yeah, and where's my ending, you jerks?

Ironic title as this film has several "made of win!" moments. Yes, there isn't much characterization involved but hey, things go boom pleasingly and there is the mother of all trickshots to finish. Also, Jason Patric and Chris Evans need their own film to themselves.

Feels like the A-team shoe-horned into the 21st century, even though there's an A-team movie coming out. Characters are bland stereotypes and the simplistic plot is poorly disguised as being complex due to some betrayals and sudden (nonsense) revelations. The action is passable enough to entertain diehard action fans but aside from that I can't honestly recommend this. On the plus side Chris Evans is notably entertaining when compared to his castmates.

Wow, lots of hate for this movie! So there were many elements of this movie that were weak (lack of a good ending, lack of explanation of motivation, etc). But I actually kinda dug the goofiness and action and most of the performances.....Chris Evans in particular. I think if it had been a bit longer and had a tad more exposition, it would have been a much better movie.

This is what the "A-Team" movie should have been like. Campy, way over the top and full of glorious non-sequiturs. It's dumb fun. The best thing about it is probably that it hasn't been chopped, sliced and diced to pieces with MTV style editing so pervasive that it's impossible to discern the action. Also. Jason Patric was great. "Your momma's a pirate!"

Chances are I'll look back at this movie in a year's time and remember very little about it, which is it's main problem. We are so saturated with action movie/comic-book movies that they really need to stand out or the audience just can't really care. There are some cool moments. Chris Evans was good (even though he feels like a poor man's Ryan Reynolds) and I honestly didn't see the twist coming. The rest of the movie felt bland and had possibly the worst written villain of all time.

Like a store-brand Shane Black film, it has the requisite laughs and explosions but it's just missing that special ingredient that makes you want to revisit it ever. Idris Elba was hilariously overqualified for his role.

Swing and a miss: it doesn't get a hit but it sure tries hard. This mostly makes it all the more painful to watch (see the spastic "look how cool this movie is" editing and busy soundtrack), but occasionally it makes some contact (see Evans' comic relief, especially his "Don't Stop Believin'" moment). The well-paced action-adventure plot at its core keeps it watchable, but only barely, thanks to its generally unpleasant visual style, female exploitation, terrible SFX, and awful cheesy villain.

I rather enjoyed this as an action-comedy. I've liked Zoe Saldana in pretty much anything she's been in so far, Idris Elba is wonderful, as are basically the entire cast, and the jokes were funny and effective. Most people seemed to think that the movie was relatively bland, which I don't really agree with, at no point in the movie did I feel bored. Were the premises flimsy? Sure they were. Was it silly at times? Sure it was. But it was still fun. It was still engaging. And I was entertained.

This was a mediocre action movie. The characters were lame and either uninteresting or downright annoying, the plot was really weak and extremely predictable. Some of the action was ok, but it also used freeze frame in really stupid ways some times, mixed in with some bad slow motion. The ending really sucked, with no real resolution (probably to give an excuse for a sequel). Overall, this is just another bad action movie.

Comic book-based action movie I probably wouldn't have looked twice at if it hadn't been for a pretty decent cast (Idris Elba, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana) and a short running time. Action thriller about a team of mercenaries who are purposely stranded in the Bolivian jungle while on a black ops mission and decide to get even with the man who hung them out to dry. Boring plodding story, awful two dimensional characters. Every action scene is too 80s, with cartoon tactics and enemies who can't aim at point blank range. Needless to say, no stakes involved for any major characters. No surprises in a story that seems familiar to anyone who ever watched a movie from the 80s. Can't hold a candle to even a single episode of Burn Notice as the espionage stuff goes. I should have just watched the A-Team a second time.

"The (anti-climactic) Losers" feels like little more than a hyper-stylized direct-to-video action film filled with generic characters, a terrible villain, lackluster performances, poor comedy, and middle-of-the-road action sequences. If it were a music video, it's grade-A stuff, or even perhaps a Michael Bay-directed commercial---I would admire the craft. But as a movie vying with this year's better "A-Team," I found none of the plot or 'team members' to be the least bit interesting.

Kind of movie I would hate 9 times out of 10. This is, however, a lucky strike. Dumb movies are just dumb, self-aware dumb movies sometimes are fun. Writing is good enough to squeeze out a few good jokes. Characters are sketchy; I liked Max character a lot though. Creators are trying to launch a franchise with this film, hence the open ending.

Of the three "men on a mission" movies this summer (Expendables and A-Team being the others), The Losers is the clear winner. Suitably stylish for its comic book origins, the movie is a surprising amount of fun -- thanks in large part to its appealing cast. Evans, Morgan, Elba and Saldana carry it through the lulls, and Patric is a deliciously evil villain. It's run of the mill, sure, but it goes through the motions with enough flare and imagination that I don't care. Straight-up entertainment.

However this film has some nice jokes, a quick and solid start and some great graphical moments, it never surpasses the average action flick. Due to a messy directing and the macho stuff I hate in this kind of films, this isn't extraordinar. I almost want to say that The Losers is "good enough" as a passable action movie, but it ends up just being average. Nothing to make it stand out, but nothing to really dislike. The action is mostly stale, and the dialogue often pointless, but it will probably pass the time well enough. There are definitely better movies, but if it comes on the television sometime, you've got an hour and a half of free time, and you're too lazy to get off the couch and put on a better movie, then it'll do.

From the get go it's obvious this was cobbled together by one of Hollywood's new generation directors who learned their craft from making music videos. It goes through all the motions and to be fair it does try to keep the spirit of the comic it's based on but as the case often is the wit of the comic was just too much for the writers and director to handle. There's really nothing memorable even the effects were so over the top that it became simply retarded mid-way through.

A lightly entertaining, simple, action romp. A very A-Team vibe with a group of highly-skilled mercenaries ousted by their own government and forced to use guns and explosions to clear their names. I'm unfamiliar with the original comic franchise this film is based on, so I cannot attest to its accuracy to the source. Fairly straightforward story, mildly predictable at points and plays against some tropes at others. Doesn't go out of its way with storytelling. Worth a look, but missable.

The biggest problem with 'The Losers' is it wants to be so many things at once. It wants to be taken seriously, reminding you that the stakes are, indeed, high. Yet, the brooding serious tone can shift into one of a jokey, fun group that happen to enjoy explosions. The ending of the film tries to avoid the typical action formula, or seems to want to, but then falls right into every plotline you've seen Sly and Arnie play out a couple decades earlier. 'The Losers' is fun, but not very original.
